Day 24 |Refined by his Grace: Love that Lingers

💎 Day 24| Love that Lingers

Love is one of those words we use often, but living it out in real-time — especially when emotions are involved — is something God keeps teaching me day by day.

There are people in our lives who make love feel easy. And then there are situations and moments where love feels like work. Not fake love… but the kind that stretches you, humbles you, and reminds you that love goes deeper than a feeling.

This past season has made me look at love through a different lens. I’ve had moments where I’ve been hurt, disappointed, confused, or pulled back emotionally — and I’ve had to sit with the reality that love doesn’t disappear just because I’m healing. It just shifts.

Love doesn’t mean pretending the hurt wasn’t real.

Love doesn’t mean letting someone back into places they no longer belong.

Love doesn’t mean forgetting what you learned.

Love doesn’t mean abandoning your boundaries.

But it does mean keeping your heart soft enough that bitterness doesn’t take the lead.

I’m learning that lingering love — the love that stays steady and grounded — is really God’s love working through me. Not the mushy kind. Not the “act like nothing happened” kind. But the kind of love that releases you from resentment so you can heal with a free heart.

Sometimes love means praying for someone from a distance.

Sometimes love means letting go without anger.

Sometimes love means choosing peace instead of revenge.

And sometimes love means acknowledging the pain without letting it define your spirit.

God’s love has lingered over me — in every season, every mistake, every struggle.

So I’m learning how to let that same grace flow through me… even when it’s uncomfortable.

Love can be gentle.

Love can be firm.

Love can be quiet.

Love can be protective.

Love can be strong enough to walk away.

Love can be soft enough to forgive.

And sometimes the most powerful love is the kind that doesn’t make a scene — it simply chooses peace.

📖 Scripture

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up… bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”

— 1 Corinthians 13:4–8

💭 Reflection

Where can you choose a softer, healthier kind of love — one that frees your heart, honors your healing, and keeps you rooted in grace?

🙏🏽 Prayer

Lord, teach me how to love in a way that honors You and protects my peace.

Help me let go of bitterness, accept what is, and release what no longer needs to be held.

Guide me in grace, wisdom, and strength as I grow in love that lingers — steady, soft, and rooted in Your truth.

Amen.
