💎 Day 23 — Learning to Listen
Listening to God is something I’m still learning — and if I’m being honest, it doesn’t always come naturally to me. I pray, I talk to Him, I pour out what’s on my heart, especially with everything I’ve been dealing with medically. But slowing down long enough to actually listen? That’s the part I’m working on.
I’ve noticed that sometimes I go into prayer trying to release the stress, the fear, and the unknowns… but my mind is still loud. I’m praying, but I’m also thinking, overthinking, worrying, planning, and trying to figure out what’s next.
And God’s been nudging me to just… breathe.
Not through a voice.
Not through a moment that shook me.
Just a quiet awareness that if I want to recognize His direction, I need to make room for it.
Listening to God isn’t always a dramatic moment — sometimes it’s simply paying attention to the peace I feel after prayer, or the scripture that stands out to me that day, or the way my spirit settles when I finally stop rushing.
It’s in those simple, quiet moments where I find Him the most.
I’m learning to slow down.
To sit still.
To stop trying to fill every pause with more words.
To trust that God is present, even when all I have is silence on my end.
📖 Scripture
“My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense; I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
Trust in Him at all times, you people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us.”
— Psalm 62:5–8
💭 Reflection
Where can you give yourself a little space this week — not to find all the answers, but to simply sit with God without rushing through the moment?
🙏🏽 Prayer
God, help me learn to slow down.
Quiet my thoughts when they run ahead of You.
Teach me to be still long enough to notice Your peace and Your presence, even when things around me feel uncertain.
Amen.
