💎 Day 29 | Refined by his Grace: When Faith Looks Forward
Faith doesn’t erase the past — it just refuses to let you stay stuck in it.
That’s something I’ve been learning slowly, especially after my health scare. When life shook me awake, I didn’t suddenly feel bold or strong. I didn’t wake up with clarity or courage. I woke up fragile… overwhelmed… and unsure of what the next day would look like.
And for a while, I kept praying from the place of my pain instead of my future.
I didn’t even realize it.
Every prayer carried something from yesterday — the fear, the disappointment, the exhaustion, the pieces of my life I didn’t know how to pick up.
But somewhere in that process of slowing down, healing, and trying to breathe again, God started shifting my focus. Not in a dramatic way. Not in some big moment.
But in the small, still places where He finally had my attention.
I began to notice how often I looked backwards.
What failed.
What broke me.
What I didn’t understand.
What I thought I lost.
And gently, God began showing me that I couldn’t move forward if all my faith was pointed behind me.
Forward faith isn’t loud.
It’s not a feeling that rises up all at once.
It’s a quiet choice — the decision to believe that God has more ahead of you than behind you, even when your heart is still tender and your vision still feels blurry.
After my health scare, every day became a lesson in looking ahead instead of replaying what went wrong. I didn’t press forward quickly — I pressed forward cautiously, slowly, some days barely at all. But even the smallest shift felt like progress.
Because forward faith is not about being fearless…
It’s about trusting God while you’re still healing.
It’s believing that He didn’t bring you through something just to leave you standing in the same place.
It’s learning to breathe again with expectation — even if you’re doing it gently.
It’s letting God write the next chapter instead of rereading the last one.
Sometimes the most faith-filled thing you can do is simply lift your eyes.
Not far.
Not fast.
Just enough to see that God is still leading you.
If fear whispers that your best days are behind you, you answer it with truth:
As long as God is writing your story, there is more ahead.
More healing.
More purpose.
More grace.
More life.
Forward faith isn’t about knowing what comes next.
It’s about trusting the One who does.
💭 Reflection
What does “pressing on” look like in this season for you?
What is one small, honest step forward you can take today — even if it’s tiny — while trusting God with the rest?
🙏🏽 Prayer
Lord, help me release what keeps pulling me backwards.
Lift my eyes toward the future You are preparing for me.
Give me steady courage for the small steps and gentle hope for the days ahead.
Remind me that You are not finished with me — and that every new morning is another chance to move forward with You.
Amen.
