💎 Walking in Purpose | Day 4: The Power of Obedience

A Continued Walk of Grace- Series II

Obedience sounds simple until life puts you in the kind of season where saying “yes” costs you something. It’s easy to follow God when the direction makes sense… when the pieces line up… when you can see where everything is going.

But real obedience — the kind that shifts your life — usually shows up in the moments where nothing makes sense at all.

I used to think obedience meant doing big, bold things for God. But recently, especially while rebuilding my faith after everything I’ve been through, God has been showing me that obedience is often quiet. Private. Personal. It’s the soft “yes” you give when your heart is trembling. It’s the step you take even when fear tries to convince you to stay still.

I once heard someone say, “Delayed obedience is still disobedience.”

And it hit me harder than I expected, because I knew how many times fear made me hesitate. Not because I didn’t love God — but because I didn’t trust myself. I worried about doing the wrong thing, looking foolish, being misunderstood, or stepping out before I felt ready.

But the more I grew, the more I realized something:

Every time I delayed obedience, my peace slipped a little.

Every time I obeyed quickly, peace returned.

The Bible gives us so many reminders of what happens when ordinary people obey a God they can’t fully see:

✨ Abraham left everything familiar with nothing but a promise.

✨ The widow poured out oil she barely had.

✨ Peter cast a net again after a night of catching nothing.

And every single time, obedience unlocked blessing.

God isn’t trying to make our lives harder when He asks us to do something uncomfortable. He’s trying to get something to us, something we can’t receive while clinging to our comfort zones.

Our understanding is limited — His view is eternal.

I’ll never forget a moment when God nudged me to reach out to someone I hadn’t spoken to in years. The friendship had ended painfully. My pride wanted the story to stay closed. But the nudge wouldn’t go away. Finally, with a nervous heart, I sent a simple message:

“Thinking of you today. Praying you’re well.”

That one act of obedience cracked open a conversation we both needed — one filled with forgiveness, healing, and peace that we didn’t even realize was missing.

That moment taught me something I carry with me now:

Obedience doesn’t just change situations — it changes hearts.

Including your own.

Obedience is like tuning an instrument.

Small adjustments can create harmony.

And when our spirit is tuned to God’s voice, even the quietest instruction can lead to life-changing purpose.

The enemy knows this — which is why distraction is one of his greatest weapons. If he can make you overthink, doubt yourself, or delay your yes… he can make you miss the moments God designed just for you.

But when you learn to obey quickly — not perfectly, just quickly — something shifts inside you. You start living with a different kind of freedom. A different kind of confidence. A different kind of clarity.

Because obedience isn’t about earning God’s love.

It’s responding to it.

Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

Not as pressure — but as relationship.

If you feel stuck in your walk of purpose, go back to the last thing God told you to do. Not the complicated thing — the simple one.

Sometimes the next door won’t open until you honor the last instruction.

God isn’t rushing you…

But He is inviting you to participate in what He’s doing.

And your yes — even a trembling one — has more power than you think.

What is one thing God has been nudging you to do that you’ve delayed out of fear, uncertainty, or overthinking?

What would obedience look like if you did it today?

🙏🏽 Prayer

Father, thank You for loving me enough to guide me.

Help me trust that Your instructions are good, even when I don’t understand them.

Give me the courage to obey quickly, with a willing heart and steady faith.

Align my steps with Your purpose, and let obedience unlock the next chapter of what You’re calling me to walk in.
