Day 8 | Walking in Purpose: Hearing God’s Voice in Everyday Moments

💎 Day 8| Walking in Purpose: Hearing God’s Voice in Everyday Moments

A Continued Walk of Grace- Series II

There are moments in life that split you wide open — moments where your body is healing, your mind is overwhelmed, and your heart feels like it’s trying to relearn how to beat again.

That’s where God met me.

It was right after I had found my childhood Bible — the one I hadn’t touched in years.

Seeing it again stirred something in me I wasn’t ready for.

Memories… emotions… a kind of spiritual homesickness I didn’t even have words for.

I held it in my hands and felt this wave of tenderness wash over me, like God was reconnecting me to a part of myself I thought I had lost.

I didn’t know it then, but that moment was the doorway.

A few days later, still recovering from my medical emergency, still trying to make sense of everything I had been through… I was lying in bed with gospel music playing softly in the background, blogging to keep my heart steady, trying to breathe through fear I didn’t speak out loud.

And right there — in the middle of exhaustion, emotion, and surrender — something shifted.

It wasn’t dramatic.

It wasn’t loud.

It wasn’t anything you could point to and say, “That’s when it happened.”

But I felt it.

It was like the Holy Spirit washed over me and through me — cleansing, calming, comforting.

And deep in my spirit, I heard Him say — not in audible words, but in a way I knew wasn’t coming from me:

“It’s okay, My child.

Do not fear.

I am with you.

I hear your cries.”

That moment changed me.

It wasn’t a mountaintop encounter.

It wasn’t a vision.

It wasn’t something reserved for “super-spiritual” people.

It was God meeting me in my weakness.

In my healing.

In my quiet.

Right where I was.

And it made me realize something I had misunderstood for years:

God isn’t hard to hear — life is just loud.

He had been near the whole time… but pain, fear, and noise had drowned out His whispers.

Since then, I’ve learned that His voice often comes through the smallest things:

✨ a scripture from childhood resurfacing

✨ a lyric hitting deeper than you expect

✨ a nudge you can’t shake

✨ a peace that interrupts panic

✨ a “wait” that saves you

✨ a reminder of truth right when you need it

He doesn’t always shout.

Sometimes He just settles your spirit.

If you’ve been struggling to hear Him, don’t assume He’s silent.

Sometimes God has to quiet the storm inside you before you can notice He’s been speaking all along.

And the same God who met me in that bed — worship music playing, heart cracked open, childhood Bible sitting beside me —

He will meet you too.

📖 Scripture

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

— John 10:27

💭 Reflection

Where in your life might God already be whispering?

What noise in your daily routine needs to quiet down so His voice can rise up?

🙏🏽 Prayer

Father, thank You for meeting me in the rawest, most vulnerable places.

Calm the noise inside me so I can recognize Your voice.

Help me trust the peace You send, the nudges You place in my spirit, and the comfort You give so gently.

Draw me closer until Your whispers feel familiar and Your presence feels undeniable.

Amen.
