Hi, I’m Monica J. Bowland, the heart behind Gem of Grace.

Gem of Grace was born from a deeply personal season of healing, reflection, and rebuilding my relationship with God. After experiencing a life-altering health scare, I found myself leaning on faith in a new and intentional way—learning what it truly means to begin again, to trust God step by step, and to rest in His grace through uncertainty.

Through honest reflections, Scripture, and encouragement, I share this journey not from a place of perfection, but from lived experience. My prayer is that Gem of Grace feels like a safe, gentle space—one that reminds you that no matter where you are in your walk, God’s grace is present, purposeful, and enough.

Thank you for walking this journey with me.

With grace,
Monica J. Bowland

  • Nov. 2nd 2025 QOTD❔

Is there an age or year of your life you would re-live? If I could relive any season of my life, it would be this one. Right now is the most glorious chapter I’ve ever experienced. I’ve given my life to Christ — fully, freely, and wholeheartedly — and I’m walking in a peace I…

  • Nov. 4th 2025 QOTD❔

What will your life be like in three years? If I’ve learned anything on this journey, it’s that when you place your plans in God’s hands, He can turn them into something far greater than you ever imagined. Right now, I’m in a season of building — walking by faith and trusting that the seeds…

  • Day 10 |Refined by his Grace: Grace Recap

💎 Day 10| What God’s Been Teaching Me As I look back on the past few days of sharing my story, I’m reminded of how faithful God has been — not just in the big miracles, but in the quiet, daily moments of grace. Each post, each prayer, each piece of my testimony has revealed another…

What are your favorite websites? Right now, my favorite website is my own — The Gem of Grace Blog. It’s more than just a page online; it’s a reflection of my heart, my healing, and my new walk with Christ. Through every post, I’m documenting this journey of faith — the highs, the lessons, and…

  • Day 9 |Refined by his Grace: Faith Over Fear

Day 9 | Faith Over Fear Fear used to have a louder voice in my life. After my medical emergency, I woke up to a new reality — one where I had to face uncertainty every single day. Questions swirled in my mind: Will this happen again? Will my memory fully come back? Can I…

  • Day 8 |Refined by his Grace: The Power of Prayer

Day 8| The Power of Prayer Prayer has carried me through moments I don’t even remember. When I was in the ICU, unable to speak for myself, others were praying for me — family, friends, even people I had never met. Though I don’t remember those moments, I know their prayers reached heaven. Because I…

  • Day 7 |Refined by his Grace: Sharing Your Story for His Glory

💎 Day 7| Sharing Your Story for His Glory For a long time, I didn’t think my story was worth sharing. It felt messy — full of detours, doubts, and disappointments. I thought testimonies had to be neat and miraculous, with a clear before-and-after moment that made people say “wow.” But God has shown me…

  • Day 6 |Refined by his Grace: Peace Over Control

💎 Day 6 |Peace Over Control I’ve learned that one of the hardest things to release is control. For so long, I lived with this quiet pressure to hold everything together — to have the plan, to know what’s next, to keep my life “in order.” But when my medical emergency occurred recently, I realized…

  • Day 5 |Refined by his Grace: Strength in Weakness

💎 Day 5| Strength in Weakness If this season of my life has taught me anything, it’s that weakness isn’t something to hide — it’s something God can use. After my recent medical emergency, I felt fragile in every way: physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I didn’t feel strong. I felt dependent. And for a while, I…

  • Day 4 |Refined by his Grace: When Healing Takes Time

💎 Day 4| When Healing Takes Time I used to think healing would feel like a switch — one moment broken, the next restored. But real healing is more like sunrise than a light switch: gradual, gentle, and sometimes so slow you only notice it when you look back. Some days I wake up strong and…

  • Day 3 •Refined by his Grace •Finding Purpose in the Pain

💎 Day 3| Finding Purpose in the Pain If you would have told me months ago that my pain would become part of my purpose, I don’t think I would have believed you. When I came home from the hospital, confused and scared, I didn’t feel strong or spiritual — I felt broken. I didn’t…

  • Day 1 •Refined by his Grace • My New Beginning💎

Refined by His Grace: My New Beginning (1st Blog!! 10.26.25) There are moments in life that change everything — moments that stop you in your tracks, shake your plans, and leave you with nothing but faith to hold on to. Not long ago, I faced one of those moments. I was found unresponsive and rushed…
